Choosing a conveyor belt manufacturer in India

By the Boston Rubbers engineering team · Updated 15 October 2026

Conveyor belts look alike on a yard, but two belts with the same designation can last very differently. The difference is in the compound, the fabric and the curing, which a buyer cannot see. These are the checks that tell a good supplier from a risky one.

Seven things to check

  • Manufacturer or trader: does the supplier compound, calender, build and cure in its own plant? A maker can trace and stand behind every belt.
  • Named standard: the belt should be built to a named standard such as IS 1891, DIN 22102 or ISO 14890, and the quotation should say which.
  • Test certificate: ask for a certificate with each supply, from specimens of the production run (tensile, elongation, abrasion, adhesion).
  • Inspection before dispatch: a confident supplier lets you or a third party witness the tests.
  • Datasheet for the exact belt: thickness, weight, covers and grade, not a generic brochure.
  • Engineering help: the supplier should check your rating and pulleys, not just quote a price per metre.
  • Quality system: ISO 9001 certification shows documented procedures.
